My Eleven Favorite Albums Of All Time
Here is a list of my 11 all time favorite albums. I’d love to see a top 10 or top 5 from everyone who comments. All links point to lastfm.com pages for the album. Most of them have songs you can listen to.
Queensryche - Operation MIndcrimeThis is my all time favorite. When I was 15 I listened to this over and over. I love the mood, singing, and guitars (simple yet powerful). Operation Mind Crime is a concept album with a cool story. It asks “Who killed Mary?”. Well, I’m convinced that Mary killed herself. (probably not a good album for the kids)
Relient K - Self TitledRelient K came around just when there was starting to be some good Christian rock. They’ve been described as a high school glee club with electric guitars and that is accurate. What a fun band. They’ve grown up a bit and their latest album is very good as well.
POD - Snuff The Punk I’m not a big van of the whole rap rock thing but POD rocks. Draw The Line is one of my all time favorite songs.
mewithoutyou - Catch For Us The Foxes This album hit me at a time when I just didn’t like anything new. These guys are passionate and heartfelt. This is definitely my favorite punk album (Rat Music for Rat People is a close second)
Michael Martin Murphy - Best Of Michael Martin Murphy I just love his voice. This album is full of one great song after another.
Melissa Etheridge - Melissa EtheridgeI listened to this on tape so much that I wore through three tapes and eventually bought it on CD as well. I absolutely love every single song on this album. She is a terrific singer/songwriter.
Queen - Greatest Hits I This is one of those feel good albums I can listen to any time. It’s fun and shows great musical talent. Brian May is my favorite guitarist and one of the few who’s style nobody can copy.
Newsboys - Shine The HitsThe Newsboys have always been to Christian music what Queen was to secular music. They are fun and weird. This album has a few duds but has some of my favorite songs. This is a great sing along album.
Billy Joel - Nylon CurtainWhat a powerful album. With songs like Good Night Saigon and Scandinavian Skies setting the mood and throwing in Pressure and Allentown, this a a classic.
Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of HellBat Out Of Hell is my ultimate driving album (haven’t listened to it in years though). Great singing and a whole lot of cheese mixed with a whole lot of fun. I’m not sure the content is suitable for a younger audience though.
The Crow Soundtrack I love this movie and the soundtrack. Great moody songs. My favorite is Slip Slide Melting by For Love Not Lisa.
